Dr. Tarek O. Souryal

Medical Advisor

Dr. Tarek O. Souryal is a leading orthopaedic surgeon in the field of sports medicine. He is the Head Team Physician for the 2011 NBA World Champion Dallas Mavericks. He also served as the head physician for the Dallas Texans of the Arena Football League, the Dallas Burn of MLS, the Dallas Freeze of the Central Hockey League and Wilmer-Hutchins High School. Dr. Souryal is the Medical Director at Texas Sports Medicine and former director of the Sports Injury Clinic at Southern Methodist University. Dr. Souryal is internationally renown for his work on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and ACL Surgery.

Dr. Souryal is also the host of Inside Sports Medicine, broadcast on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM radio every Saturday morning.

John Catacalos, MS, CSCS

Standards and Procedures Advisor

John Catacalos is a highly respected personal trainer in Dallas, Texas. John holds a masters degree in Sports Medicine, as well as multiple certifications both the NSCA (CSCS) and NASM (CPT). John has also taken courses at the Cooper Clinic in the area of bio-mechanics and from the Titleist Performance Institute for golf-related fitness training.

John provides substantial assistance into selection and design of realFIT testing procedures. He also helps in the development of the realFIT Certified Official orientation program.

Dr Mark Wren

Medical Advisor

Dr. Wren earned his Doctor of Medicine and Masters in Public Health degrees at Tulane University Schools of Medicine and Public Health. He is Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation/Physiatry, a chapter author for and frequent speaker for National Medical Director’s Conferences, regional/local community and continuing educational events

Mark provides input into the validation of the realFIT data, including the development of long-term studies to confirm the benefits of a fitness-oriented approach to public health.

Mark has special interests in medical informatics, a passion for clinical information technology, a strong love of sports and an overall commitment to public health.
